Hello folks,
How are you all doing?
I’m enjoying the slow dance of spring, unfurling itself petal by petal as it happens on the west coast. Especially with regard to this one ornamental cherry tree that lives beside my driveway. I’ve been thinking about this tree. I witness it through all its phases.
Every April, a thousand cotton-candy-pink blossoms burst out on this tree’s branches for exactly two weeks, then rain down on the pavement like pink snow. The rest of the year, the tree appears completely normal — a bit old and craggy, even. Needs pruning. In fact, for several months the branches are bare, holding nothing at all.
In my heart, I love how something so seemingly simple can produce such a divine explosion of beauty for just two weeks. I mean, I think this tree lives its whole life in anticipation of that two weeks.
And yet, the entire year of growing, sucking nutrients from the earth and sun, lying fallow and leafless — all of this time is equally important. Without it, the cherry blossoms could not and would not arrive.
Sometimes when I’m in a low period, not producing much, not feeling super creative, I like to feel the vibes of the cherry tree. It’s good to be grateful for just the normalcy of green leaves and grey lichen-covered branches. It’s good to sit in the shade during summer and remember the clouds of pink overhead in April. The tree doesn’t need to be in blossom all the time; just the memory and anticipation are worth it.
This spring, I continue to offer discounted medicine readings online.
Medicine readings include tarot and animal cards, along with a great conversation around the spiritual themes affecting your life. I’ll continue to offer these readings for $63/hour up until the summer solstice, when the rate will return to $99.
I’m also still offering delightful massage and healing touch sessions on a sliding scale from $100-150/hour. Please continue to refer your friends and family! Thank you for your support.
After experimenting with sharing my writing over the past few months, I’ve decided to commit to writing one letter every two weeks with the intent of giving you my current healing offerings and whatever interesting thoughts are going through my funny spiritual little head. (These letters will be part of your free subscription, and any other writings will be sent to paid subscribers only - essays, tales, poetry and stuff like that.)
This writing platform, Substack, thankfully allows me to share my heartfelt notions directly to your inbox. If you enjoy my deeper writing and want to receive more than my bi-monthly letter, please consider supporting me with a donation of $5 or $10 per month. Many writers on Substack are able to gain a lot of support by charging such a small amount, which really counts as paid subscribers add up!
I also appreciate it very much when you like, comment and share my work on your social media pages! My desire is to share my musings in thought-provoking ways to help bless the world.
Big love,
Penelope
